It's rare that a top-tier team would have a rivalry with a mid-tier team, yet G2 and ROCCAT always bring the heat

It may seem unusual for a mid-tier team like ROCCAT to challenge the team that some would argue are the best in Europe, and yet, looking back over their match record for the last year of so, ROCCAT and G2 have managed to stay very level, with both teams currently possessing six wins each when it comes to their head-to-head clashes. What is happening here today is yet another showdown between the “Kings of Europe” and the King Slayers.

The match started out fairly straightforward, with ROCCAT and G2 maintaining a gold parity throughout the early game. The only notable moment happened at around the eight minute mark, when G2’s mid laner Luka "Perkz" Perkovi? teleported to the top lane to help his team mate out of a tricky situation, resulting in first blood for G2. ROCCAT would fire back in the bot lane however, evening the score and preventing G2 from gaining too much of an advantage.

Come the mid-game, G2 displayed why they are currently on top of the standings, as they rapidly secured map objectives while also managing to catch out members of ROCCAT, preventing them from responding with objectives of their own. At this point, the gold difference began to grow out of control, as G2 proceeded to bully their way around the map, taking whatever objective they sought with little for ROCCAT to do in response. By the thirty minute mark, G2 had extended their lead by too much, and ROCCAT began to fall further and further behind as G2 began to siege their base. A team fight that saw ROCCAT wiped for only two members of G2 was the final nail in the coffin, as the “Kings of Europe” triumphed over the would be assassins.

While not really an upset, this was certainly an excellent display of high quality League of Legends play from G2 as they gained the victory here today.
