Nicknames have been a staple of Pokemon games since the very beginning. Whether you named your Growlithe after your childhood dog or named your Dragonite after your favorite fictional dragon, everyone has a nicknamed Pokemon they remember fondly. While we certainly hope you've grown up since naming your Koffing "Fart King," we know how important it is for some Trainers to give their Pokemon nicknames. In the main series Pokemon games, the only way to change a Pokemon's nickname after catching them was to head over to the Name Rater, where he would give the Pokemon a new nickname. Luckily, Pokemon Let's Go has made it much easier to change a Pokemon's nickname if you forgot to give it one upon capture. Here's how to change your Pokemon's nickname:
How to Change your Pokemon's Nickname in Pokemon Let's Go
- Hit X to pause the game
- Click Party in the in-game menu.
- Navigate to the Pokemon whose name you want to change and Press A
- Scroll down to Change name, and press A again.
- Add your name and press A once more to confirm.
It's that simple! Now you can change your Pokemon's nicknames as you see fit, no Name Rater required! Just don't change your Pokemon's nickname too many times and confuse it. That would be pretty mean. It's also unknown if you'll be able to change a traded Pokemon's nickname upon receipt. In the main series games, a traded Pokemon could not have their nickname changed.
