Red Dead Online Beta Progress May Be Reset Before Launch Says Rockstar

When the full version of Red Dead Redemption 2 Online launches, you may lose all of your game progress according to Rockstar.

The Red Dead Online beta kicked off yesterday for Ultimate Edition owners and it opened up today for anyone who played the game on launch day. It’s had a solid start so far, with not too many bugs or prominent issues appearing, but in their detailed blog post about the Red Dead Online beta, Rockstar has included some worrying information.

“We hope that all player progress during this early period of the Beta will be able to remain intact long term,” begins the final few lines. “However as with many betas for large scale online experiences such as this, there is always the chance that we may need to implement rank or other stat resets in case of issues.”

What this basically means is that while there’s no plans to reset player progress during the Red Dead Online beta, players need to be aware that it’s a possibility. Unforeseen circumstances can occur and since the game will be so popular, Rockstar may run into server troubles and game exploits that require a blanket progression reset.

There’s no need to fret just yet because we’re just into the second day of the beta, but try not to get too attached to your Red Dead Online characters because there’s a chance they may vanish when the full launch comes. That’s if you’ve managed to even get into the game yet, because some Xbox One players have had the issue where Red Dead Online won’t work at all.

Nevertheless, this beta period is being used as a means to stress test the servers. If you do run into any issues whatsoever, Rockstar says that they “want to hear from you and we ask for your help especially during the Beta process. In addition to reporting bugs, technical issues, glitches and exploits at https://support.rockstargames.com, please continue to send us your feedback and suggestions at reddeadonline.com/feedback.”
