The legendary Korean League of Legends star will have his name immortalized in the ESL Esports Hall of Fame.

Legendary SK Telecom T1 mid laner Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok is going to be inducted into the ESL Esports Hall of Fame. One of the most popular League of Legends players to date, Faker will be the first LoL player to enter the Hall of Fame, after fans selected him to win the Community Vote.

The Esports Hall of Fame is presented by paysafecard in cooperation with ESL, and has become something of a fixture since its inception in 2016, with Counter-Strike player Emil “HeatoN” Christensen and Quake player Dennis “Thresh” Fong being the first inductees. Since its beginning, several other players and notable figures have been added to its ranks, including Counter-Strike players Ola “Element” Moum and Kyle “Ksharp” Miller, Quake player Johnathan “FATAL1TY” Wendel, and gaming personality and caster John “TotalBiscuit” Bain.

“In a game which has seen such a rapid turnover of top talent and a meta which can veer from one extreme to another, it is a testament to Faker's excellence individually and as the cornerstone of the SK Telecom dynasty that he has been built around, to great success domestically and internationally, again and again,” wrote ESL in their announcement post. “There have been many great players and champions in League history, but none have so thoroughly dominated their position or the game to the extent Faker has and as such he is considered one of the rare names to transcend his game and achieve esports-wide acclaim.”

While Faker was unable to reach the World Championships this year, SK Telecom T1 have almost completely revamped their roster for the 2019 season, as they look to once again claim dominance over League of Legends.
