In the latest very unexpected crossover, PUBG Mobile is teaming up with the Resident Evil 2 remake for a new game mode infested with zombies.

PUBG Mobile has seen immense success, especially in the eastern regions of the world. With the Resident Evil 2 remake coming to PlayStation 4 in January 2019, the two games have joined forces to introduce zombies to the battle royale title.

Announced by the Japanese Resident Evil Twitter account, the translated tweet reads the following: “[PUBG MOBILE] × [Resident Evil Re: 2] collaboration decided! The world's most popular mobile game and survival horror Monument, what kind of novel play can the combination of two super-IPs produce? Now teaser video streaming!”

There’s no confirmation of what this actually means though unfortunately. The internet has instantly got to speculating and the common consensus is that zombies will be infiltrating the blue and hunting down players in-game, perhaps similarly to the recent Fortnitemares event we saw on Fortnite for Halloween?

There’s no doubt this mode will be huge though, since PUBG Mobile had an incredible 10 million active daily users in May, not including China. It’s gone toe-to-toe with Fortnite on mobile, since it launched and while the latter is far more popular on PC, it’s a much closer affair on mobile devices.

We’re yet to see or hear anything from the official PUBG Mobile channels but expect an announcement from them, including what the crossover will actually entail, later this week. It’s also unconfirmed whether this mode will be available to the western PUBG Mobile audience, but it should be a given.
