Registration for the FIFA 19 ePremier League has officially opened so players have the chance to represent their club in-game.

Two months ago, we wrote about the FIFA 19 ePremier League - the English top flight’s first endeavour into esports. Together with Gfinity, the ePremier League will give FIFA 19 players over the age of 16 the opportunity to represent their favourite club in-game. Across a three month period, all the entrants will compete to be the ePremier League champion in a final broadcast live on Sky Sports. It’s a momentous step forward for esports and FIFA 19, and today, FIFA 19 ePremier League registration has opened up.

This is how the ePremier League competition will work.

Over on the ePremier League official site, anyone interested in competing can sign up for the chance to represent their favourite Premier League club. Once you register for an account and link either your PlayStation 4 or Xbox One account, you can select which tournament to join and take a look at the players you might be competing against. Registration doesn’t close until Saturday, January 5 at 9am UTC though so there’s plenty of time to get registered.

As expected, matches will be played on FIFA 19 Ultimate Team since that’s now become the main gamemode in the FIFA franchise. 320 players from each platform for each club will proceed through to the club playoffs for a total of 6,400 players. 40 of those will then proceed to the ePremier League final in London to duke it out for the title of ePremier League Champion.

Interestingly, the first stage of online qualifiers aren’t played like a knockout tournament. It’s in the form of a ladder instead, where the players who play the most and climb the ladder will stand the best chance of progressing. You can find out the full details about the ePremier League in the official rules.
