Slasher Calls CWL Vegas The Worst Team Event He's Ever Been To

Slasher isn't happy after 100 Thieves finished top 12 at CWL Vegas, the first Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 event of the esports season.

Austin “Slasher” Liddicoat is one of Call of Duty’s longest serving pro players, competing at MLG events since Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Over five years on and CWL Vegas is apparently the “worst team event” he’s “ever been apart of [sic]”. This comes after his team - 100 Thieves - finished with just a top 12 placement, despite being comprised of some of the best players in the world.

100 Thieves kicked off CWL Vegas by going 2-1 on the Friday, with two 3-1 victories over Reciprocity and Mindfreak, followed by a 3-1 loss to eUnited. Heading into the saturday and they had just one remaining game in pool play against Team Sween, a relatively unknown squad of players from the U.K. They lost 3-0 in one of the biggest upsets of the tournament so far, meaning they’d kick off bracket play already in the losers bracket.

Their first game went well, disposing of G2 Esports 3-0, but when it came to the Sunday, they had to face off against Luminosity Gaming for a spot in top eight. They lost 3-1, which meant that the first seeded team finished with just a top 12 overall placement. Clearly a disappointing result for Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag’s team, which recently saw U.S. based rapper Drake become co-owner.

In the same tweet, Slasher went on to call his team’s performance “absolutely embarrassing.” He also said that he’s “goin ghost I’ll be back… hopefully.” We’re taking that to mean he’s going to put a hiatus on competing for a while, not that he’s going to try and revitalise the Call of Duty: Ghosts competitive scene.

Slasher’s teammate, Kenny “Kenny” Williams also tweeted out after the loss to Luminosity. “GGs LG,” his tweet reads. “Just simply gotta get better.” Sam “Octane” Larew tweeted “GGs LG. weekend was full of disappointment. My apologies bros”.

In other CWL Vegas news, see which eUnited teammate Jordan “Jkap” Kaplan has said will be “disgusting for years.”
