2018 has been a great year for Pokemon Go. 12 Community Days, multiple new features, new Pokemon, the game has exploded in popularity once again after the lull during 2017. As we approach Christmas, Niantic has announced the January Community Day to kick off the next year of Pokemon Go will feature Shiny Totodile! Normal Totodile will be there too of course, so you can catch all the Totodiles you need to have an army of Feraligatrs.
Shiny Totodile - Pokemon Go January Community Day
Totodile is the last of the three Gen 2 starters to feature in a Community Day, as we saw both Chikorita and Cyndaquil during 2018. The real draw here is obtaining a Shiny Totodile, which is more of a cyan/turquoise colour compared to the usual baby blue. When you evolve a Shiny Totodile, both Croconaw and Feraligatr will have darker blue spikes, as opposed to the usual red ones. This means there won’t be any confusion over the colours, because Shiny Totodile is very distinctly different.
Exclusive Move - Pokemon Go January Community Day
As always, if you evolve a Croconaw into a Feraligatr during the Pokemon Go January Community Day, your Feraligatr will know an exclusive move that can only be obtained during the three hour period, plus one extra hour after it ends. Niantic hasn’t disclosed what this move will be yet, but keep an eye on their official social channels to know what the move will be.
When is the Pokemon Go January Community Day?
You can catch a Shiny Totodile during the Pokemon Go January Community Day on January 12, 2019. For players in the Americas & Greenland, the Pokemon Go Community Day in January will take place from 11 AM - 2 PM PT. In Europe, the Middle East & Africa, it's from 10 AM - 1 PM UTC, and then for any players in the Asian-Pacific region, January Community Day is from 12 PM - 3 PM JST. To evolve your Croconaws and get the exclusive move, you'll have an extra hour after the Community Day period has ended.
January Pokemon Go Community Day Bonuses
As always, there will be two passive bonuses in play during the Pokemon Go Community Day in January 2019. Lures will last for three hours, which is the duration of the entire Community Day so make sure you get them down as soon as it hits 10 AM. Any eggs that you’re hatching will also hatch in a quarter of the distance too, so put your walking boots on and start incubating those eggs!
