The MDL Macau event will be returning next year, bigger and better than ever before according to organizers.

Just over a week until 2018 closes out, and we’ve been given a small taste of what is to come in 2019. MDL Macau 2019 has been revealed to help kick off the year, as the tournament moves to February, though this time it will not be part of the Dota Pro Circuit.

“For this event, we will welcome eight of the finest teams in the world, and we are thrilled to announce PSG.LGD and Virtus.pro as the first two invites,” revealed the organization in their announcement. “As the champions of our MDL Changsha Major in last May before taking second a few months later at The International, it made perfect sense to invite PSG.LGD. They are joined by Virtus.pro, the winners of the Kuala Lumpur Major, one of the most successful and consistent teams in the world.”

MDL Macau will feature eight teams competing for a $300,000 prize pool, with five direct invites, two teams attending through a Chinese qualifier, and the final spot being awarded to the Dota 2 Professional League’s sixth season.

With PSG Esports and Virtus Pro already confirmed, we’re likely to see other returning top teams including OG and Natus Vincere making the trip. Despite the tournament being a non-DPC event, it should be an event to watch nonetheless as the “Vegas of the East” puts on another show.
