The second Spirit Board event for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, a Super Mario themed week of Spirits, will be the first to feature an exclusive Spirit only obtainable at certain times during the event: the Golden Dash Mushroom.
The Golden Dash Mushroom Spirit, referencing a power-up first seen in Mario Kart 64 but most recently featured in Super Mario Party, will only be available at 10AM and 10PM Pacific times throughout the week. Once the event ends, there will be no way to obtain the special Spirit unless Nintendo decides to bring it back for another event.
This tweet from the official Nintendo Versus Twitter page gives a few more details:
The Golden Dash Mushroom rushes in as an exclusive Spirit during this week’s event at 10am & 10pm PT. It normally results in a big dice roll for players in #SuperMarioParty, but in Super #SmashBrosUltimate you’ll need to overcome a fast and unflinching opponent to win! pic.twitter.com/RlF07i8wDF

The Spirit Battle for the Golden Dash Mushroom sounds like a tough task, as players will have to defeat a golden Mii Brawler with increased speed and attack power, super armor, and that’s tough to launch or flinch.
Reactions to the announcement have been mixed, from one player counting his blessings that the Gold Mii Brawler isn’t completely overpowered to another who’s worried Nintendo is venturing into potentially murky territory.
In case you missed the announcement of the Mario event, here’s the official Tweet with that reveal as well:
Mario and friends smash their way into the spotlight with this week’s Super #SmashBrosUltimate Spirit Event: “Oh Yeah! Mario Time!” Get exclusive #SuperMarioParty Spirits and extra gold during 12/27, 10pm PT – 01/01, 10pm PT! pic.twitter.com/AjDKc4Xl7G
