Hearthstone HCT World Championship To Be Held In Taipei

Blizzard is gearing up to bring the 2018 Hearthstone season to a close. The World Championships have been announced for Taipei Taiwan.

It’s been a solid year of esports competition for Hearthstone. With the Hearthstone Championship Tour making various stops all over the world and giving players the chance to prove their deck, skill, and luck among the best of the best, it’s all about to come to a head. Details on the HCT World Championship have been announced with the 2018 tour coming to a close in Taipei, Taiwan from April 25 to 29, 2019.

The news was announced via press release and during the Hearthstone All-Star Invitational which also took place in Taipei on the weekend of December 28 to 30, 2018. During the event, Taiwanese player and HCT Fall 2018 finalist Wu "BloodTrail" Zong-Chang overcame HCT World Championship 2017 champ and fellow Taiwanese pro Chen "tom60229" Wei Lin. The location for the HCT 2018 World Championship was announced soon after.

BloodTrail’s $20,000 prize for taking it all at the Hearthstone All-Star Invitational is nothing to sneeze at, but at the World Championship, a $1 million prize pool will be on the line. With only a few months left between now and then, all of the pros in the running will be fighting be working out their best decks in order to achieve one of the hallowed 16 spots in the tournament. Only a handful of players, including Raphael ”Bunnyhoppor” Peltzer, Kacper ”A83650” Kwieci?ski, Mihai “Languagehacker” Dragalin, and Brian “Bloodyface” Eason, have qualified as of yet, the first two having made their claim at the HCT Summer Championship and the latter having made it in during the Fall Championship.

With only a handful of spots left to the rest of the players in the world, it’s anyone’s game come April 2019.
