Streamlabs Announces Facebook Streaming Integration

Streaming to Facebook just became a whole lot easier, with Streamlabs announcing full OBS integration to the platform.

Streamers looking to break new ground just found their job becoming a whole lot easier, with Streamlabs announcing that Facebook Gaming is now completely integrated with Streamlabs OBS with full API support. Now users with Streamlabs OBS will be able to broadcast their games through Facebook with a whole suite of different supported features.

"In 2018, we saw a 91% increase in content creators using Streamlabs OBS on Facebook,” said Ali Moiz, CEO of Streamlabs. “We hope that this full Facebook Gaming integration will open the doors for thousands more to enter the market and make money doing what they love."

To break down just how easy it now is to stream to Facebook, here is a list of the steps you have to go through to start up the stream:

  1. Go to facebook.com/live/create
  2. Click "Create Live Stream"
  3. Go to the top left and select "Share on a Page You Manage" from "Choose where to post your broadcast"
  4. Select your page
  5. Enter the game category and title
  6. Open OBS -> Preferences -> Stream
  7. Copy URL and Stream key from FB page into appropriate OBS settings
  8. Click "Start Streaming" in OBS
  9. Click "Go Live" in FB page

Now, here are the new steps to go through, thanks to Streamlabs:

  1. Open SLOBS, login via Facebook
  2. Click "Go Live"
  3. Add a game category, your title, description, and select your page
  4. Click "Confirm & Go Live"

The full integration between Facebook and Streamlabs promises to bring a whole host of features, including embedded chat for ease of interaction with the audience, auto-fill stream information to pre-fill the stream information from either a scheduled stream or the last stream made, automated notifications to warn streamers when they approach the four-hour session limit, and a stream schedule announcement post to the news feed to allow fans to know when the broadcast will begin.
