After a determined run through the tournament, Team Secret have managed to find the win against Virtus.pro in a hard-fought final’s series at the Chongqing Major. Despite being knocked down into the Lower Bracket by VP, Team Secret were able to rally and fight their way back into the Grand Finals, ultimately securing the win and the prize that comes along with it. Team Secret’s first opponents in the playoffs were Team Liquid, a foe they dispatched 2-0 on their campaign to victory. Taking on EHOME next, Team Secret were similarly able to win 2-0 to earn a spot in the Upper Bracket finals, where they would unfortunately lose to Virtus.pro 2-1.
Now in the Lower Bracket, Team Secret had to face down a dominant Evil Geniuses, who had gone on a tear through the Lower Bracket eliminating several tournament favorites. The clash between the two teams was over much too soon, with Team Secret claiming victory 2-0 to earn a second chance at Virtus.pro and the finals.
The Grand Final match saw Team Secret go up 2-0 early on, in matches that barely seemed to get started at 21 minutes and 17 minutes apiece. The third match would go to VP after a tough 40-minute showdown, however Team Secret were able to pull it back and claim the fourth match and the series after an intense 31-minute battle.
With their victory here over Virtus.pro, Team Secret will claim the grand prize of $350,000 and 4,950 Dota Championship Points. Not a bad start to 2019 when you think about it.
