Season 2 of Dragon Ball FighterZ was officially announced last night after Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour finals. Here's what the introduction of six new fighters, including Jiren, Videl, Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta, and another Broly mean for players of the popular anime fighting game.

Following Kazunoko's dramatic victory in the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour finals, a trailer formally announcing Season 2 of Dragon Ball FighterZ was unveiled. Our earlier Jiren leak was confirmed, and he was joined by Videl alongside her beau, the "mysterious" Great Saiyaman.

The trailer also revealed that the two newest characters to join the Dragon Ball universe would also be making their appearance at the tail end of the season pass, they being Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta and Broly (as depicted in the Dragon Ball Super: Broly film.) If you're keeping score, this means we now have five Gokus and Vegetas (because Gogeta and Vegito are technically both of them,) two Gohans, and two Brolys (and a Shenron in a pear tree.)

Dragon Ball FighterZ Pass 2 Price

We also received a price for the season pass, totaling $24.99 USD. This is $10 less than the Season 1 pass, primarily because we're not receiving 8 characters, this time, but 6.

But what else can players expect from Season 2 of Dragon Ball FighterZ? Here's just a few hits:

Balance Changes

As with most fighting games these days, a new season means a new set of balance changes. These changes will seek to "even the odds" of strong characters like Bardock and Cell, while making weaker characters more powerful. Unfortunately, we'll more than likely see the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, unless Bandai Namco takes drastic measures to ensure we'll never see another Bardock level three in competitive play again.  It will also be interesting to see how the new characters are upon launch and if further balance changes would be necessary. In Season 1 alone we received more than one balance patch, so expect Season 2 to follow suit.

Two More DLC Fighters

Speaking of which, we only know the identity of four of the DLC fighters: Jiren, Videl, Broly, and Gogeta. Who might the other two be? It's hard to say, especially since the Season 1 cast was all over the place (Bardock, Broly, Base Goku, Base Vegeta, Vegito Blue, Merged Zamasu, Android 17,  and Cooler.) So, that's 3 movie characters, 3 Dragon Ball Super characters, and 2 Saiyan Saga characters. Could Bandai Namco opt to include some other Dragon Ball Super characters?  While Videl's inclusion gives the game some well-needed girl poewr, could we also see Caulifla, Kale, or Ribrienne be added to the cast? What about Turles or Lord Slug from the DBZ movies? Would we really be okay with another Saiyan?

Could Caulifla and Kale be the next 2 DLC fighters?

More Lobby Characters & Goodies

Fighter Pass 1 gave us not just the DLC characters themselves, but stickers, colors, and lobby characters for each of the DLC fighters. Expect more of the same from Season 2. We may also receive some bonus goodies throughout the year, similar to Season 1.

Dragon Ball FighterZ 2?

Could this all be leading up to the announcement of a sequel? We're only getting 6 characters in this batch of DLC, which means there is an opportunity for more content down the road. But releasing a new version of the game on the (supposed) next generation of consoles would make a lot of sense.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see who joins the cast of DBFZ next, right? Until then, check out who's joining the cast of another fan-favorite fighting game, Mortal Kombat 11!
