Ever look at the over-the-top, gruesome moves of Mortal Kombat and think, “good (deity of choosing)! Is that even possible?!” Well, Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment and Nerdist are out to help answer that question in a new video series ahead of Mortal Kombat 11. The Science of Mortal Kombat brings together a star cast to analyze the most iconic moves in Mortal Kombat lore and what it would take to accomplish some of these superhuman, deadly moves.

The Science of Mortal Kombat was announced on February 12, 2019 via Nerdist and official Mortal Kombat channels. Launching on February 18, the video series will show the physics, anatomy, and further science and physiology necessary to create moves like Scorpion’s trademark spear attack, as well as the Krushing Blows newly featured in Mortal Kombat 11. You can see a trailer for the series below.

Bringing together a star-studded cast of characters including Daniel Cormier, CM Punk, the Nerdist’s Kyle Hill, and Mythbuster Paul Allen, The Science of Mortal Kombat will utilize technology such as slow-motion camera and more to create specialized visuals and showcase the pressure and force necessary for the moves that make us cringe and cheer at the same time. The six-episode series will launch via the Nerdist website and at the Because Science YouTube Channel. Be sure to tune in weekly as the series leads up to the launch of Mortal Kombat 11 on April 23, 2019 for PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
