The European powerhouse is proving to be too much for the other LEC teams to handle.

G2 Esports is halfway complete on their goal of finishing the LEC 2019 Spring Split undefeated, after taking down Misfits Gaming to close out the first day of week five. None of their matches have seemed particularly difficult, especially when compared to the games between the other teams of the LEC so far. Here’s a brief breakdown of their match against Misfits Gaming to close out the halfway point.

Both teams made aggressive early plays to try and secure a lead, however it was G2 who came off better in almost all of their engagements. G2 were able to secure the first Dragon after building a minor lead on CS and kills, before Misfits fired back by securing the Rift Herald. While they were able to get a Tower with the help of the Rift Herald, it didn’t seem to be enough in the end and would largely be the last proactive move they would make for the rest of the game.

G2 continued to dominate all areas of the map, taking control of the jungle and the lanes as they slowly ground down the defenses of Misfits. With an ever-larger gold lead growing and control of the map, G2 were able to secure objectives like Baron before their final push into the base of Misfits. It didn’t take long for G2 to destroy the Nexus and claim victory in this clash, closing out their impressive start to the Spring Split.

With todays game in the record books, G2 must now repeat the task of taking down the teams of the LEC if they hope to have a perfect season. With what we’ve seen from them so far, that doesn’t seem like an impossible task at all.
