The Overwatch League is back for the 2019 season with a full weekend of games. Here's what went down as the new expansion teams took on the established masters of the League on the opening weekend of OWL 2019.

The Overwatch League has returned for another year, and while the teams might look a little different, the action is still just as awesome to see. We’ve seen a full weekend of games as the opening week kicked off with a bang, so let’s take a look at which teams came out on top, and which teams need a little more work.

Day one saw the Philadelphia Fusion take on the defending champions, the London Spitfire. Though London did put up a valiant effort, Philly was too strong on the day as they cruised to a 3-1 victory in the opening match. New York took on Boston to follow, and it was a much close game overall. Ultimately New York was able to pull out the win 2-1, after the teams tied things up midway through the series. The Seoul Dynasty took on the Los Angeles Gladiators next, and despite struggling towards the end of last year managed to find the win in this clash, 3-1. Rounding out the first day of games, one of the new expansion teams, the Hangzhou Spark, found victory over the Shanghai Dragons 3-1. The Dragons are unfortunately still searching for their first win of the Overwatch League.

Day two brought more action for fans, with Toronto Defiant finding victory in a brutal slugfest with the Houston Outlaws, 3-2. In a change of pace to follow that match, the Atlanta Reign dominated the Florida Mayhem 4-0 to secure their first win of the year. The Dallas Fuel were up next as they battled with the San Francisco Shock, though they were unable to pick up a single map win in their loss to SF. Finally, two of the new expansion teams clashed in another close 5 game series, with the Chengdu Hunters ultimately defeating the Guangzhou Charge 3-2.
