Gen.G Signs Apex Legends Team of Three Former Overwatch Pros

Esports organization Gen.G has entered the competitive Apex Legends scene by adding a star-studded roster to its ever-growing portfolio of teams.

The massive rise in popularity of the new title in Apex Legends that has already made its mark in the battle royale genre has led to a high level of interest in the growing of the competitive scene of Apex Legends by esports organizations and players. One of the latest esports organizations to announce their entry in the competitive world of Apex Legends is Gen.G who has formed a formidable team consisting of former Overwatch professional players. 

The three former Overwatch professional players who now make up the Apex Legends roster for gen.G consist of Chris "GrimReality" Schaefer, Ted "silkthread" Wang, and Tim "Dummy" Olson.

GrimReality is a former member of the Los Angeles Valiant Overwatch League team, while silkthread is a former Valiant teammate of GrimReality and a retired member of the Valiant's sister team in the Los Angeles Gladiators and the Chengdu Hunters. Dummy's history in the world of esports spans his career as an Overwatch player for both Team Liquid and NRG Esports.

"We think Apex Legends is one of the most promising titles for esports, and we're excited to be able to find such a group of talented players that are committed to building a great team,” said Arnold Hur, Chief Operating Officer, Gen.G Esports. “As the scene is still developing, we really debated about when we wanted to enter the scene, but when we met this group, we knew this was the right team for us as we loved that they were veterans of the fps scene, displayed both great mechanics and strategy, and had a professional team-first attitude.”

The newly announced Apex Legends roster will see its first official action under the Gen.G banner at ESL 3on3 Open Cup North America that is taking place Sunday, March 3rd. More information on the event can be found on the official ESL Play website

With its official entry in the competitive scene of Apex Legends, Gen.G continues to spread its reach in the esports world and adds onto its current resume that includes Call of Duty, Overwatch, League of Legends, Fortnite Battle Royale, Player Unknown's Battlegrounds, and Clash Royale.
