Borderlands 3 is one of those things we could never be sure is ever coming. The idea has been teased and toyed with for the better part of over four years since Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launched in 2014. That said, it looks like Gearbox is ready to show something off at PAX East on March 28 - Something that looks very suspiciously like it could be a new Borderlands game.
Gearbox Software put out a tease for a PAX East reveal on March 12, 2019 via the Gearbox Official Twitter. Little more than a road sign showing the date of March 28 and “Boston MA” (Boston, Massachusetts is where PAX East is held) is shown in the graphic, though “Exit 3” can also just be made out near the top of the image. It’s not exactly much to go on, but a lot of the clear indicators of the series seem to be present, along with little teases about the new project.

With the usual desert wasteland motif of previous Borderlands games hanging around the road sign and the “3” lingering in the picture, it seems fairly obvious of what direction the mysterious Gearbox announcement will be going. Certainly, there’s a possibility that we’ll be celebrating the new Exit 3 game from Gearbox, but we get the feeling they know what everyone wants. The final episode of Tales From the Borderlands from now-closed Telltale Games dropped in late 2015 and, again, the last regular game was in 2014. It most certainly feels like a good time for the undisputed king of multiplayer loot n’ shoots to come back into the spotlight.
