After going 0-7 in Overwatch League Season 2 so far, the Los Angeles Valiant have parted ways with Coach Byungchul Moon

The Los Angeles Valiant have had a rough go of it in Year 2 of the Overwatch League to say the least. In a year where even the once winless Shanghai Dragons have now found victories, LA Valiant are stumbling to find anything near a win. It looks like the Valiant will be looking for better team management to solve the problem as they recently released their Head Coach, Byungchul Moon.

The news was announced on March 12, 2019 in a press release directly from the LA Valiant. Though the LA Valiant found victory off and on in their inaugural season, landing 3rd in the first preseason and 4th in the Season 1’s final standings, the team struggled to find any similar amount of success in 2019. As of Stage 1, Week 4 in Overwatch League Season 2, the Valiant find themselves without even a single win, placing them squarely at the bottom of the standings. As the team struggles, management assuredly is looking to answers to the issue.

In place of Moon, Assistant Coach Mike “Packing10” Szklanny is set to step into the role of interim Head Coach for the team. Fellow Assistant Coaches Warsi "Stoop" Waris and Dongsu Shin will continue to support from their roles on the Valiant staff. Will new coaching help the Valiant find their way? It remains to be seen, but certainly something must be done if the LA Valiant is to salvage their 2019 season in Stage 1.

It’s not as if the Valiant haven’t come close. They put up a 2-3 game vs newcomers Hangzhou Spark at the start of Season 2 and even put up a fight against the lights of Philly Fusion and New York Excelsior with similar 2-3 final sets. Maybe just a shift here and there are what’s needed for LA Valiant to find their fight. Can this shift in management get it done, or will it take more? You can see highlights of their last match against the Houston Outlaws below.

Meanwhile, Boston Uprising is looking to put a showcase on local Overwatch talent with a new Spring Collegiate Cup.
