Echo Fox Dismantles CLG to Advance to LCS Playoffs

When the world looked ahead to Week 9 of the LCS, a number of matchups were highlighted on the calendar, but did anyone see Echo Fox playing for chance to move on to the playoffs? Probably not.

Earlier in the final Sunday of the League of Legends Championship Series Spring Split Week 9, the team from FlyQuest dropped their match against the Golden Guardians, which will force a tie-breaker later in the day. But, it was truly the middleweight bout between Counter-Logic Gaming and Echo Fox that had everyone’s attention.

With both teams tied for 6th place (7-10)  in the standings, the winner of this head-to-head would determine single-handedly which of the two combatants would earn a berth into the Spring Split Playoffs.

Through the early stages of the battle on the rift, the matchup looked extremely close. But thanks to some very special play by Echo Fox’s Solo on Vladamir, and a giant snowball by the name of Apollo on Jinx, there was nothing that the boys from CLG could do to stop them. There was no hope at the end, where the jukes and the vision control swallowed up CLG, who will now take the playoff break to regroup.

Coming into the arena on Sunday, the team of Echo Fox had put a lot of respect on their name. The dubbed “giant slayers” had been able tottake down both Team Liquid and Cloud 9 in recent weeks to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Next up, they will face off against the crowd-favorites in TSM, but that head-to-head might just be another opportunity to add a trophy to their wall. TSM is a formidable opponent, and enter the playoffs with nearly as much momentum as Echo Fox does. Will the fabulous underdogs shock the LCS world once more?

Rushing into the Postseason

After being benched for a few weeks (though there’s speculation that the benching was self-imposed) this season, Echo Fox’s all-star Jungler Rush has put on an absolute clinic on the Rift.

A reliable ganker, and carry champion player, Rush has been a very key component of their victories over the likes of league-leading Team Liquid just yesterday.

Heading into the postseason, Rush is going to have to keep a cool head and maintain his stellar dependability if they are to continue winning.

The mountain ahead of them is high. The Spring Split playoffs will feature the league’s best teams and no free wins. But if anyone can make a crazy roam through the brackets, and drop the jaws of League of Legends fans the world over, it’s Echo Fox.
