One community member has crafted a theory that the Borderlands 3 release date was actually hidden in the title's developer announcement trailer.

March 28th was a truly exciting day for the video game world, as Borderlands 3 was officially announced by developer Gearbox at PAX East. Showing off a trailer that delivered the signature flair and action of the popular looter shooter franchise, the reveal of Borderlands 3 has brought a great deal of excitement to the gaming community. Unfortunately, an official release date was not announced for Borderlands 3 during the reveal show. However, one community member has crafted a theory for when the release date of the highly anticipated title will be based on the developer announcement trailer that was shown off on March 28th.

Borderlands 3 Release Date

Taking to the Borderlands subreddit, community member Zottelpanda posted a theory on when the release date will be for entry 3 in the franchise based on a couple of hidden numbers that were in the developer trailer for the game.

According to the release date theory by Zottelpanda, the 1:40 mark of the video shows a series of skyscrapers where 01 can be seen on one of the buildings. Following this hidden number,  the 1:52 mark of the developer trailer features a large white building that can be seen in the background with a number 10 on it. The combination of these two hidden numbers led Zottelpanda to craft an interesting theory that the release date of Borderlands 3 will be October 1st of 2019.

While the above theory should be taken with a heavy grain of salt and not considered confirmed in any way, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that Gearbox decided to hide the official release date of Borderlands 3 in the developer announcement trailer and see if fans would be able to find it.

There is also the fact that October of 2019 will be the 10 year anniversary month of the release of the original Borderlands game which would make for an awesome celebration gift to the community by releasing entry 3 in the franchise.

With Gearbox stating that fans will be finding out more about Borderlands 3 on the date of Wednesday, April 3rd, the community will likely be getting an official confirmation on the release date of the upcoming title and see if it was in fact hidden in the recently released developer trailer.
