A developer for Apex Legends recently gave insight into the potential for the popular battle royale title to have cross-platform play in the future.

Cross-platform play has become a major topic of discussion in the video game industry with the likes of Fortnite Battle Royale allowing for players on any gaming platform to play with one another. With the success of cross-platform play for Fortnite, many players have been curious as to whether or not the latest hit battle royale title of Apex Legends would ever allow for cross-platform play between PC, Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4 (PS4). While no official confirmation of cross-platform play has been announced for Apex Legends by developer Respawn Entertainment, an inside look at Respawn Entertainment's thoughts on the topic was recently revealed.

In a video posted to the WIRED YouTube channel, Drew McCoy, Project Lead at Respawn Entertainment, was answering some of the most popular questions regarding Apex Legends on Twitter. As expected, the topic of cross-platform play arose and led McCoy to give players an insight into the current status of the feature for the popular battle royale title.

"We don't want to comment on specificities of future features or content right now, but I can say that cross-play is something that we really care about and are looking into," said McCoy. "We know that people have friends on all sorts of platforms and that you really want to go to the arena and get some wins together, so stay tuned."

While players are likely not too thrilled to not hear any concrete information regarding the implementation of cross-platform capabilities for Apex Legends, it is reassuring to hear that Respawn Entertainment definitely has the development of cross-play on their radar, and that they are fully aware of the Apex Legends community's desire to be able to play with players on different platforms.

Do you want to see Apex Legends have cross-platform play added into it or do you believe the battle royale is fine without the feature? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
