On the April 12, 2019 Kombat Kast, we got our very first look at newly announced Princess Kitana, alongside D'Vorah and Cetrion in Mortal Kombat 11.

It’s another week, which means it was time for another Kombat Kast. This week we got our first look at Kitana, who was only just revealed before this Kast. Furthermore, we got a bigger look at D’Vorah, and Cetrion, a brand new character showcased by GameInformer.

Kitana was the first up on the Kombat Kast, having only just been announced just before the April 12 Kast. Kitana returns as an agile, combo-heavy fighter. Kitana is built to keep the aggression going for long-chain combos that expert players will be able to deeply punish anyone caught out. In addition to her long strings, Kitana returns with a mobile moves to keep her opponents guessing, such as a double jump “flutter” to fake out uppercuts and anti-air, and, of course, her fan blades for plenty of projectile game.

One of the more interesting moves to come to Kitana is a Royal Protector fan move. Sweeping her fans up, Kitana can absorb projectiles into her fans. Absorbing enough projectiles buffs her fans into an empowered state where she will do more damage with them. Kitana also has moves that reference her more devious half-sister Mileena, such as a sai-based moves and a teleporting dive kick. Even if Mileena isn’t here, her spirit is alive and well in Kitana.

Next up we had our first deep dive into Cetrion. Cetrion is an Elder Goddess in the Mortal Kombat universe attuned to the elements. Cetrion can call down meteors, summon boulders and rock walls, fire hellfire beams, and more sorcery. Cetrion isn’t an up and front fighter. She’s a sorceress that plays keep-away with her tracking grabs, push back attacks, and multi-layered projectiles. Cetrion is bound to confound and frustrate foes trying to get close to her with her varied long-range offense.

You'd better be ready to play a hard game of chase when Cetrion is your opponent.

D’Vorah is sort of an in-between of Kitana and Cetrion. She brings a fair share of fast close-up attacks and various long-range buggy projectiles to her style. Her stabby spider legs return and bring the pain in rapid fashion, she’s able to spin opponents up in nasty webbing for more damage, and she has a lot of bug attacks that bring both long-range damage and some damage-over-time effects that will keep players struggling against the swarm. Much of D’Vorah’s kit is built towards getting her aggressive close-range kit ready.

We also learned about Time Krystals. This currency are used to create gear for your character as well as unlocking things like easy fatalities, taunts, and banners. You can earn them in the game or buy them, but NetherRealm was quick to say this currency will not be used to buy anything that can offer a competitive advantage. It won’t be a “pay-to-win” game in any way. Time Krystals are specifically for cosmetic purposes.

We’re only two characters away from a fully confirmed Mortal Kombat 11 roster. With nearly everything settled, we’re pretty much ready for the game on April 23, but we’ll still have the latest on MK11 as news becomes available. Are Kitana, D’Vorah, or Cetrion going to be your mains? Who are you waiting on? Let us know!
