Out of all the astounding players on a superstar Team Liquid, it's World Champion CoreJJ in support that takes home the 2019 Spring MVP award.

Last winter, Team Liquid managed to convince a World Champion to come on over to the North American LCS and join a superstar-stacked team with international glory in their cross-hairs.

In 2017, Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in won the League of Legends World Championships with Samsung Galaxy in a brutal stomping of SK Telecom T1. With that same team, CoreJJ captured gold at two Korea Regionals, as well as the IEM 11 Gyeonggi in 2016.  For the past year, the world-renowned support player started for Gen.G in the LCK. That team would place 5th in Summer, before taking gold in the Korea Regionals, but would eventually fall in the round robin of the 2018 Worlds Event.

Arriving stateside for his second stint in the LCS, CoreJJ joined a team that captured back-to-back LCS Championships in 2018. He was the anchor to this all-star squad. No pressure or anything. Shoring up the weakest point on a generally strong team across the board made Team Liquid one of the scariest teams in League of Legends history, let alone domestically.

“My hope is that Team Liquid will be the team that NA could be proud of,” - CoreJJ, Team Liquid

With the best AD-Carry in LCS history now partnered with a World Champion support player, Team Liquid crushed the 2019 LCS Spring Split. Finishing with a solid 14W - 4L record, Team Liquid looked a little sleepy at the end of the season, but quickly shook off the rust in the Playoff Quarterfinals.

After crushing FlyQuest to gain the easy path to the Grand Finals, Team Liquid now only stand with Bjergsen and his TSM in the way of a three-peat.

With epic Galio play, the 24-year-old South Korean has made a huge stand in North America as a core (humorous coincidence) part of a stellar Team Liquid line-up. How does his team feel about the MVP honors for their star support CoreJJ? As you can see, they’re pretty excited.

His biggest test in LCS competition comes immediately after winning his 2019 LCS Spring award, as his Team Liquid face off against a pretty stacked TSM roster.
