NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros are wasting no time breaking ground for Mortal Kombat 11 esports with the announcement of the 2019 Pro Kompetition.

With the imminent launch of Mortal Kombat 11 on April 23, 2019, players are chomping at the bit to get into the action and compete in the game at the likes of Combo Breaker and EVO 2019. Even so, and before the floodgates have even opened, NetherRealm and Warner Bros are bringing fans a new way to be involved in competition throughout the year with the announcement of the 2019 Pro Kompetition.

The 2019 Pro Kompetition was announced on April 16, 2019 via Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter and a video on their YouTube. Following in the footsteps of events like the ArcRevo 2019, Tekken, and Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tours, the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition is intended to make events around the world stopping points to sift out the best MK11 players all over the place. Through various legs of the tour, 16 top ranking players will be sifted from the pack to compete for prize pool of over $250,000. You can check out a video sharing many of the broader details of the event below.

The Pro Kompetition will feature stops in various parts of the world, including the US, Canada, Europe, and Latin America, each featuring both in-person tournaments and online events in which players can accrue pro points for the competition. By getting to the top 12 slots in the Pro Kompetition leaderboards, players can qualify for the Grand Finals in March 2020. Players can also qualify by winning their regional finals in their respective leagues, or by winning at a Last Chance Qualifier event to take place further along the tour.

Registration has not quite opened for the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition yet, but at least ten events are already planned out worldwide with the first taking place at Combo Breaker 2019 in Chicago, Illinois May 24 to 26, 2019. Further details are also specified on the Pro Kompetition corner of the Mortal Kombat website. Check out the Pro Kompetition events as they stand at current in the handy little roadmap below.

Some of the dates are to be determined, but the 10 events leading up to the Mortal Kombat 11 Pro Kompetition Grand Finals are set throughout 2019 and into 2010.
