Blizzard took to social media to explain the reasoning for the large update size of the Overwatch Storm Rising event.

Tuesday, April 16th saw the highly anticipated Storm Rising Archives 2019 event go live on the Overwatch servers and allow players to begin their adventure of capturing the Talon accountant of Maximilien with Genji, Tracer, Mercy, and Winston. As with all Overwatch events, players had to download an update in order to gain access to all of the Storm Rising content. However, the large size of the Overwatch Storm Rising update did not sit well with many players. This led to developer Blizzard Entertainment to explain the reasoning for the large size of the latest Overwatch update.

Overwatch Storm Rising Update Size Explained

The Rising Storm Archives 2019 patch is a very large piece of content, as it sits at 25GBs. Unfortunately, this large update size was seen as a negative for some members of the community. Seeing this negative reception by one player, the official Twitter account for the popular first-person shooter title responded and explained why the update size was so large.

"Hey all, this patch features a remaster that impacts players on console," stated the Overwatch Twitter account. "Benefits to this remaster is load time performance improvements, optimizations for memory constrained systems, numerous bug fixes across many maps, and data format changes to support future content. Worth."
