EA Sports is getting on board the Patrick Mahomes II hype-train, naming the Kansas City Chiefs' gunslinger as the Madden 20 Edition cover athlete.

It’s American Football Christmas today (NFL Draft Day), and EA Sports gifted the Madden faithful with a brand new trailer that truly gets the blood pumping but also reveals the new cover athlete for Madden 20.

The Cover Star

Patrick Mahomes II took the National Football League by storm last season with his crazy skills, ability to withstand pressure, and record-breaking performances. Mahomes is a star, no question, and the 2019-2020 season is going to be an exciting one for the Kansas City Chiefs faithful.

The 2018 Most Valuable Player, Pro Bowl Selection, Offensive Player of the Year, and Bart Bell Player of the Year will grace the cover of the newest edition of the Madden NFL video game.

Face of the Franchise

EA Sports also unveiled a brand new addition to the Madden features line-up in the fresh-looking Face of the Franchise: QB1 mode.

This new and customizable career campaign is all about you, with personalized playable scenarios, events, and dynamic challenges. The choices you make early on will affect how your career pans out!

This new single-player adventure will follow a fan-made quarterback as they experience the journey from college football stardom to the grand lights of the National Football League. According to EA Sports, Patrick Mahomes himself provided the development team with a lot of input on this new mode, based on his real-life experience.

Superstar X-Factor

In a bold move, Madden has added a new system within its game that will see superstars of the league equipped with their own unique special abilities.

Currently, there is minimal information on what these abilities will look like, but with the heavy use of Pat Mahomes on the landing page, and on the game’s cover, we can assume it will be something like a “no look pass” button. Other players will have different unique abilities that they are capable of performing.

We’re excited to see how this evolves, as it could change the way we build out our created players in the future as well.

EA Sports’ Madden 20 is set to release on August 2nd, 2019.
