Mere days away from the start of the next international tournament, Riot Games released a short behind-the-scenes look at the making of Invictus Gaming's 2018 World Champions skins.

Alongside the recent release of the Invictus Gaming 2018 World Championship celebration skins in the League of Legends client, Riot Games has also released a video showing some behind-the-scenes footage of their creation process.

In this video, fans are given a very exclusive look behind the curtain at Riot Games and how they worked alongside the 2018 World Champions to create their dream skins to set their global victory in stone.

Riot Games, on multiple occasions, have stated that their 2018 World Champ Invictus Gaming skins have been their most complicated and in-depth skins yet.

You can see this extra level of detail in every animation, but most so in the recalls of each champion. Along with the most customized and personal animations (all hilariously acted out in a “pitch video” by the players themselves), the recall animation also shows the actual written signature of the player they represent from that winning Invictus Gaming squad.

Fallen Angels

The theme chosen by the team was immediate and concise. They wanted a “Fallen Angels” theme to all of their skins regardless of if the champions have wings or feathers in their lore.

“Most of the kit is still dark and edgy, but there are some pops of color,” says Oli McDonald, VFX Artist at Riot Games. “We found a way to put wings in there,” added McDonald in reference to most of the chosen champions not already having any wings or feathers in their design.

For Valor and Glory

The best part of the entire video is getting to see the members of Invictus Gaming react to their World Champion skin designs throughout the process, but best of all at the end, when they were all done.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect them to look this cool,” - Rookie, iG mid-laner

“I have two skins now. In comparison, I prefer the Irelia one more because the appearance is more outstanding” - Duke, iG top-laner

“Camille has three skins in total. It is better looking than the last two, and it is cooler too, and you get an MVP trophy too.” - Ning, iG jungler

The most satisfying part of the skin to me is probably the animation,” - JackieLove, iG ad-carry

“The very unique thing about Rakan’s skin is that the primary color for all iG skins is black apart from Rakan, who is white … you’d be the coolest kid around.” - Baolan, iG support

“The skin motivated people. Fiora’s ulti is very difficult to use, but if you hit all the vitals a massive iG logo appears.” - TheShy, iG top-laner

For those fans of iG, or the chosen champions that got the skin treatment, it’s a beautiful thing just how much input these players had in the creation of these World Champion celebratory skins.
