Beyond the Summit hosted the first Mortal Kombat 11 tournament this weekend, and the competition was brutally wondrous.

Three days of intense Mortal Kombat action took place at Beyond the Summit this weekend for the Summit of Time, where personally invited talent and voted in wildcards would duke it out for glory.

Many amazing fights took place over the course of the tournament, and some unfortunate player conduct resulting in a disqualification, and it all came down to a Grand Final between SonicFox and Dragon.

The two fighters have had tremendous weekends, and even met in the Winners Bracket where SonicFox swept the “king of Mortal Kombat” sending Dragon to the Losers Finals.

In that lower bracket finals, Dragon would easily walk through Dr. Gross in order to punch his ticket back up to the higher bracket and fight in the Grand Finals.

Unfortunately for Dragon, SonicFox had his number all weekend. In an opportunity that would have had to see Dragon (as the Losers winner) take two full sets off of SonicFox, he didn’t

“I am shaking like a mother f***** right now,” said SonicFox after the match. Winning the first Summit ever for the newly released Mortal Kombat 11. “It’s looking great!” said SonicFox when asked about the future of Mortal Kombat 11. “I don’t know what they did, what magic, but they got it perfect.”

This marks the first Mortal Kombat championship for SonicFox, and the first win since his Dragon Ball FighterZ victory at the Northeast Championship in December of 2018.

Expect a whole lot of exciting Mortal Kombat 11 action in the next few months leading up tot he large stage of the Evolution Championship Series 2019 that will take place in August. Mortal Kombat 11 will feature in the tournament, but as SonicFox pointed out in his brief acceptance speech, will not be hosted in the finals on Championship Sunday, the biggest day of the tournament.
