Something fun for the fans to partake in during the downtime between Stage 2 and Stage 3, represent your favorite team in a friendly competition.

Starting next week, Blizzard and the Overwatch League will give players of Overwatch and fans of the Esport reason to equip those OWL skins in-game.

The newly announced Skin in the Game event will run from May 27th until May 31st. Every time any player wears an Overwatch League team skin in a Quick Play of Competitive match, that team will get a point. At the end, the team with the most points wins.

The winning OWL team will be announced on June 3rd, 2019. With a victory, the team gets to overtake the official Overwatch League Instagram channel.

To earn points for their favorite team, fans can follow a few simple rules:

  • This competition only applies to Quick Play and Competitive game modes.
  • Players must complete the map in order to get a point for their team. If a map goes to overtime, players still need to be there at the end.
  • It’s OK if players are eliminated during a match and need to switch to another hero. As long as a hero was in a team skin sometime during the match, and the player completes that match, they’ll get credit.
  • Both home and away team skins earn 1 point.
  • Fans can also play along on Twitter by tweeting #MyOWLTeam and tagging the account of their favorite team to earn that team a point.
  • This competition is open to all players, in all regions, on all platforms.

During the event, fans will be able to keep track of which teams are leading the charge on the official Overwatch League Twitter account.

Don’t forget to equip those skins, and send those tweets. There’s a lot more than an Instagram takeover at stake here, it’s about bragging rights! Who has the biggest active fan-base in the Overwatch League? We’ll have to wait until June 3rd to find out.
