Shang Tsung's Throne Room in the Krypt may be by and far one of Mortal Kombat 11's most tedious unlocks, but there's a fast track there. This guide will help you discover Shang Tsung's deepest secrets.

Mortal Kombat 11’s Krypt is chalk full of secrets, many of which have been discovered by now, such as the Door of the One Being. That said, by and large the most daunting task of the Krypt revolves around Shang Tsung’s Throne Room. It’s not an easy path there, but there are shortcuts to what you need in order to collect heads, open the doors, and gain access to the most coveted space of the Krypt.

Shang Tsung’s Throne Room is directly tied to a set of unlocks at the Warrior’s Shrine. You may have noticed the string of treasure chests, spikes, and character faces across from the Shrine. These chests are locked with little explanation as to how to open them. The way to do it is to do 50 Fatalities or Brutalities on a single character to unlock their severed head and place it on the spike where their face and treasure chest are.

Each of these chests contains rewards specific to the character's head, but it's when you collect more than 10 that the real reward is revealed.

Fast Track To Shang Tsung's Throne Room

It is a tedious task to pull off 50 fatalities per character, but YouTube channel Collider Games put out what appears to be one of the fastest tracks to each head you want. Here’s what you do. In Settings, turn the ‘Rounds To Win’ down to one round.

  • Go into the Klassic Towers and move to the Survivor Tower. Check to make sure the character you want is at the bottom. If they are not, back out to the mode select screen and re-enter to refresh the towers.
  • Once your desired character is on the bottom of the tower, enter the Survivor Tower and set the difficulty on Very Easy.
  • Play the fight and be sure to use a Fatality or Brutality or let your AI fighter play the fight for you (They’ll often use Fatalities).
  • Let the second fight load, then pause the game, go to Tower Select, and go back to Tower Selection.

You will find that the Klassic Towers do not refresh their character order through this method, allowing you to farm Fatalities on your desired character until you get their head. You’ll know when you do as it will present it to you as an item reward at the end of the fight.

Getting each head for Mortal Kombat 11's Krypt and Shang Tsung's Throne Room is grindy, but the prizes are worth it.

The Krypt's Greatest Reward

Once you unlock 10 heads through whatever means you choose, a set of doors will open near the beginning of the Krypt where you first entered, revealing Shang Tsung’s Throne Room to you. In the room, there are a number of 25,000 Koin chests that are each tied to a specific character and contain various rare loot for them, but two sections are still locked off at 10 heads. Once you hit 20 heads, the second area in the Throne Room will open, and once you have the full roster of heads, Shang Tsung’s final area in the room will open up.

It’s a lot of Fatalities and Brutalities to go through to get what you need, but using the above method, the grind will go a little faster and opening the Throne Room will reward you with plenty of rewards for the rest of your play in Mortal Kombat 11.
