PlayStation E3 2019 Conference Times & Info

Sony PlayStation may have announced that they won't have a traditional press conference or be on the floor for E3 2019, but will they skip out entirely? We're not so sure.

Sony surprised everyone when they announced PlayStation would be skipping out entirely on a traditional press conference for 2019, but does that mean there won’t be a PlayStation E3 2019 at all? Though the gaming giant is backing out of a physical presence, a complete absence from one of the absolute biggest weeks in gaming seems quite unlikely. Here’s what we know about what Sony’s E3 2019 week could look like.

For one thing, despite Sony’s lack of a presser at E3, they’ve been recently relying on a new method to relay information on new PlayStation games, hardware, and services. We’re of course talking about the State of Play streams. Much like Nintendo Direct streams in which Nintendo has been showing off new products for years (and will be during E3 2019), Sony has been more regularly using these streams to share updates on the latest PlayStation news. Even then, the YouTube and Twitch channels for PlayStation have been more than a little active. It was PlayStation after all that recently revealed the latest trailer and release date for Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding.

If we were to get a new PlayStation State of Play during E3 2019, we might expect to see Bloodborne 2, the Last of Us 2, or other titles rumored or in development exclusively on Sony's consoles.

It seems highly likely we’ll see an announcement soon about what PlayStation has in store through either a State of Play stream or another video announcement. We don’t have confirmation of a time or day at the time of this writing, but despite the fact that PlayStation made their absence from the E3 floor pretty clear, a new State of Play would be appropriate during the events of E3 2019.

We will update as soon as we have a more concrete announcement on Sony or PlayStation’s behalf, but there’s still plenty to see during E3 2019. Don’t miss the Nintendo Splatoon 2 and Smash Bros World Championships or the Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am either.
