After it was leaked that Anthem would not appear during EA Play at E3 2019, KindaFunny's Greg Miller sat down with BioWare's Ben Irving to talk the future of Anthem.

It’s been a really rough few months for EA Games and Bioware with their attempt at making a live-service ever-expanding RPG game in Anthem. The launch was broken, and nothing changed or updated since has helped change the public’s mind on the title.

The modern world of gaming has seen the birth of live-service games. The breathing world and experiences of MMOs and Hybrid-RPGs in titles like World of Warcraft, Destiny, The Division 2 and many more have become one of the most popular game-types the world over.

Most of the experiences promised by Anthem were not delivered at launch and most of them still have yet to be refined into a working version. However, during their E3 2019 EA Play the Anthem team popped up real quick to make sure the fans know that the team is still hard at work trying to make Anthem great.

Yes, there is a future for Anthem. A very bright future for Anthem,” said Ben Irving, Anthem Live Service Lead Producer.

Currently, Anthem is living on Patch 1.2.0, all while testing out their new update titled Cataclysm on the Player Test Realm, with some tweaks and a full launch on the way.

According to Irving, the PTR (available on PC only) is their biggest tool right now, as they shift their focus on the player’s voice. Using their testing realms, EA and Bioware are keen to adapt the entire future of the game based on what their players want, rather than what they think is best.

“We’ve learned a lot these past few months. We want to work together with the community to make it the game what they want it to be,” said Irving.

Right now, the team behind Anthem isn’t ready to go into too much detail regarding the future of the game, but it’s interesting to know that they are not only continuing to support it, but truly believe that what’s coming to Anthem will help make it the game it was always meant to be.
