It's part Unreal, part Quake, all DOOM Eternal's slaying glory.

To close out the DOOM Eternal talk -- where Bethesda and id Software revealed DOOM Eternal’s release date -- we finally got a look at a new multiplayer game mode, and the world of DOOM fans is torn.

DOOM Eternal’s BATTLEMODE pits 1 Slayer against 2 Demons in a battle to the death. It’s coined as a “new multiplayer experience” but it really looks like a weird mix between DOOM and Quake or Unreal Tournament.

Split Reaction

Folks don’t seem super keen on the playstyle of DOOM Eternal’s BATTLEMODE, Some think that Bethesda and id Software should have gone fully into the multiplayer build, pitting a team of Slayers against a team of Demons, but as it stands there’s only a 1v2 scenario.

Though some are pretty stoked on the idea that any sort of multiplayer experience is coming to the DOOM franchise for the first time since the reboot of the series in 2016.

What do you think of BATTLEMODE?
