100 Thieves Are Shaking Up Their LCS Roster

With a very poor Spring Split behind them and more of the same so far in the Summer, it's about time that 100 Thieves tries to shake things up a bit more.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of 100 Thieves or not, you probably saw this coming. The second-year North American Esports organization has had a tough go so far during their second calendar in the League of Legends Championship Series, and it looks like they’ve already had enough of their current Summer line-up.

In the off-season before the start of the LCS Summer Split, 100 Thieves brought over European jungler Amazing and shifted around a lot of their other spots on the Rift. So far, through 4 games, Amazing seems to be the least culpable member of the team for their outcomes. In just two weeks, 100 Thieves have yet to claim a single match win and currently sit tied for last place with a 0W - 4L record.

Finally, the shake-up came. Yesterday, as the 100 Thieves Academy team was set to take to the Rift, the team announced on social media that their line-up had shifted. Starting for their Academy team would be LCS starters Ssumday in the top-lane, Soligo in the mid-lane, and Aphromoo in at support.

Today, the 100 Thieves Academy had another match. This time around they dressed only Ssumday and Soligo from their LCS roster.

Finally, just a few minutes ago, 100 Thieves posted an LCS roster update ahead of their Week 3 games starting tomorrow.

It looks like the team is going to give FakeGod a shot in the top-lane, and Ryu a go at mid. The duo of Aphromoo and Bang will also be back together in the bot-lane after a single game played by Aphromoo for the 100 Thieves Academy.

An important note is that the Academy line-up changed from game to game, and according to this tweet the LCS roster may do the exact same.

Benching Ssumday and Soligo for a shot at some new found synergy or victories may not be the answer to their problems, but it could also be the start to a flood of shifts coming to the 100 Thieves League of Legends team.

With the way they’re playing, there’s no telling what the problem really is, or how to fix it. The only thing that has been clear so far in the Summer Split is that the starting line-up at the beginning of the season wasn’t working.

Week 3 in the LCS for the 100 Thieves kicks off on Saturday, June 15th at 6:00 PM Pacific Time when the squad takes on the very hot Golden Guardians.
