Team Liquid Break Ahead of the Pack in LCS Week 4

After Week 4 of the LCS, one team burst forth from the massive pileup at the top of the standings.

We spoke about it after Week 3, the insane cluster of teams all tied for first place in the North American League of Legends Championship Series. It was six teams in total, all sitting at a record of 4 wins and 2 losses after six games in the 2019 Summer Split.

This week, we expected some breakaway from that traffic jam, and while there wasn’t a whole lot of movement, one team finished the week the only member of the 1st Place club. That team is none other than MSI 2019 Finalists Team Liquid

After their awfully spooky slow start to the 2019 LCS Summer Split, the three-time back-to-back-to-back champions of North America seem to have finally hit their stride.

At the conclusion of Week 2, Team Liquid sat at a pretty unimpressive 2 Wins and 2 Losses record, but they have gone on a 4-game tear since then.

Most importantly, was the win this week on Saturday to open the day where they beat the steadily aggressive Golden Guardians. The previous week, they beat a struggling FlyQuest and a very hot OpTic Gaming, and they capped off Week 4 with a victory over Clutch.

Now, with a single game above 2nd Place, Team Liquid is back on top in the LCS, but that may not stick throughout the rest of the split. The competition at the top of the pile in the North American region is super strong. While we may still believe that Team Liquid is the best of the bunch, it’s unclear at this point whether the hot streak they are on is just that, a hot streak.

Next up for Team Liquid is participating in the Rift Rivals 2019 tournament, which could be their opportunity to get a small amount of revenge on their EU counterparts in G2 Esports, who embarrassed them a bit during the MSI 2019 Grand Finals

After Rift Rivals, Team Liquid will take on the ever-formidable Cloud9 in Week 5, before closing out their LCS week against the surging 100 Thieves.
