In what will surely be billed as the most ambitious crossover event in history (again), Marvel and Team Liquid have teamed up to make a line of MCU/Team Liquid merchandise.

Team Liquid announced this week a collaboration with none other than the comic book and entertainment juggernaut, Marvel. The merchandise collaboration features a range of products inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as a simple logo tee.

Three jerseys are sure to grab the eye of both Marvel and Team Liquid fans. With fully sublimated designs, those put off by shoddy esports apparel in the past will not have to worry about images peeling or feeling stiff. The first design was revealed at the Rift Rivals 2019 stage by the North American esports team and is themed around Captain America. Other styles are based on the Avengers: Endgame Quantum Realm Armor, and Iron Man’s MK 85 armor. With the Avengers logo on the right breast mirrored by the Team Liquid logo, the designs do an excellent job of asserting that esports carries equal weight as other entertainment.

Those not fond of cosplay/costume tees probably won’t enjoy the stylings, as they deliver a similar vibe. However, those costume tees probably wouldn’t be made from as nice a material, have the Team Liquid Logo on them, nor the opportunity to add your name across the back.

The stand-out for us was the Logo Tee, which features Team Liquid’s horse head logo and Marvel’s red brick lock-up. Modern and clean, this is fusion printed onto a weighted cotton body. This looks fresh in both its red and blue colorways.

Damian Estrada—Creative Director for Team Liquid—spoke on the collaboration in a video released by the team. “It felt like Endgame, and the Avengers jersey, and the whole team coming together narratively made a ton of sense,” they said. “Our players, and how we put together these rosters, is a bunch of really insanely talented individuals coming together for a single purpose. So there were a lot of parallels that I felt I could draw between that.”

The Chief Operating Officer of Team Liquid, Mike Milanov, also spoke on the collaboration, indicating that this will not be the last that we see of such initiatives, saying, “When it comes to merch, we’d love to keep doing collabs, we’d love to do capsules, we’d love to do limited edition stuff—bigger partnerships like this.”

Items from the collaboration can be purchased here.
