MikeYeung Had a Rough Return to the North American LCS

It's been a difficult weekend for MikeYeung in his not-so-triumphant return to the mainstage of North American League of Legends.

Just a week ago, MikeYeung made some headlines as he was traded from Team Liquid (where he played on the Academy roster) to Echo Fox in order to potentially jump-start the struggling last-place team in the LCS.

Unfortunately, however, it has been a truly rough return to the spotlight for the jungler, seeing his new team drop both of their matches in desperate and lackluster fashion. Neither MikeYeung nor Echo Fox showed much hope for the franchise against Golden Guardians and an equally struggling FlyQuest.

It was that latter game, playing a team that had (at the time) fewer wins than they did, yet FlyQuest made Echo Fox look like a completely different tier of a team. Sure, FlyQuest (on paper) is a far better team than where they sit on the standings, but for Echo Fox to hardly even show up is rough.

Prior to coming over from Team Liquid Academy, MikeYeung spent some time with TSM Academy after being demoted due to rising stars in that franchise and some below-par play. MikeYeung only actually played a single split (Spring ‘18) with Team SoloMids mainstage roster. Back in 2017, MikeYeung tried to cement himself a spot on the Phoenix1 LCS roster to no avail, before heading over to TSM after Worlds ‘17.

When news broke last week regarding his trade to Echo Fox, most League of Legends fans felt more for the now jobless Rush who has earned the love and adoration of LCS fans over the years regardless of his performance, or how much of the blame he got.

Coming up next for Echo Fox in the second half of the LCS Summer Split will be a head-to-head matchup against league-leading Cloud9 and a battle of the bottom with 100 Thieves.

The team has a week to continue trying to build some sort of synergy with their new jungler, a role that has proved so extremely relevant in today’s League of Legends meta.
