The move comes as a bit of a surprise but will not see the LCS cease it's regularly scheduled broadcasts on Twitch or YouTube.

In the world of Esports, there is no greater king than Amazon’s live-streaming platform Twitch.tv. However, others are doing far more with the promise than the big purple machine. Caffeine is a platform trying to take the ease of broadcasting software like Lightstream, and adding the zero-latency audience-to-streamer interaction that makes Microsoft’s Mixer platform so beloved by fans.

Today, Riot Games and the League Championship Series (North American League of Legends Esports League) announced that they would be adding Caffeine to their list of sponsors and that all LCS broadcasts will add the platform to their simulcast line-up.

Starting almost immediately, fans will be able to watch all of the 2019 LCS Summer Split action on the LCS Caffeine channel.

“As our audience continues to grow and evolve, we’re excited to bring the LCS to new platforms and distribution channels ensuring our fans are able to watch the broadcast on their preferred devices,” said Matt Archambault, Head of Esports Partnerships and Business Development for North America at Riot Games. “We’ve seen demand from our community around new streaming platforms and we’re excited to work with Caffeine to see what engaging content our community and aspiring shoutcasters will be able to create with our broadcasts.”

“We’re proud to partner with Riot Games to help LCS fans and aspiring shoutcasters experience this content like never before,” said Caffeine Founder and CEO Ben Keighran. “Our platform will deliver these matches with almost no latency, allowing fans to watch as if they were there, while also offering aspiring shoutcasters the ability to live host their own streams of the event and interact with fans in real time.”

The North American LCS kicks off Week 6 tomorrow, July 13th, when Team SoloMid take to the LCS stage against Clutch Gaming.

For all of the stateside League of Legends action, be sure to tune-in to that fancy new Caffeine channel.
