The streak ends at 7-wins, not including some of the fantastic skill Fnatic put on display during Rift Rivals 2019.

Today marked the first time in months that anyone had been able to beat the historic Fnatic squad on the LEC stage. Their first loss of the 2019 Summer Split came at the hands of the oft undermined and highly potent Splyce team.

This is the same Splyce that this very Fnatic team knocked out of the Spring Playoffs.

Up until this point, Fnatic has looked absolutely unwavering in their domination of the European League, even destroying MSI 2019 Champions G2 eSports in their only head-to-head so far.

Despite all of the grit and determination that Fnatic has put forth thus far in the Summer Split, it would be the often quiet and scary good mid-laner Humanoid on newly released Assassin champion Qiyana that would steal the show for Splyce.

It’s been a pretty long time since Fnatic lost a game in the League of Legends European Championship. Not including the 2019 LEC Spring Playoffs, it was February 16th the last time that the biggest franchise in European League of Legends suffered a loss on the mainstage. That’s 4 months and 27 days. Or 21 weeks. Or 147 calendar days.

For Fnatic, it’s key for them to not let this loss affect their outlook on the split beyond this weekend. It wasn’t a blowout, and Fnatic was fairly within reach of the win for the majority of the playtime. So, it’s back to the chalkboard and preparing for next week.

When it comes to Splyce, however, it may be time for the rest of the LEC to wake up to their scary potential and their threat to cracking the top-three seeds when it comes to qualifying for the 2019 LEC Summer Split playoffs in just a few weeks.
