However, DOTA 2's upcoming premiere event of The International 2019 is almost ready to surpass the $30,000,000 prize pool of the Fortnite World Cup and retake its spot as the most lucrative esports prize pool in history.

At the time of this writing, the prize pool for the DOTA 2 competition of The International 2019 is currently at a total of $29,011, 187. With over 41 days left for the DOTA 2 community to continue to contribute crowdfunding towards the massive DOTA 2 prize pool of The International 2019, it is safe to assume that the high-profile esports event will indeed surpass the prize money available for players to earn in the Fortnite World Cup.
While the large amount of the Fortnite World Cup prize pool looked to be a truly difficult beast for any other esports tournament to beat when it comes to awarding such a large amount of prize money, it was widely considered that the only event that would be able to surpass the Fortnite World Cup would be DOTA 2 and The International 2019.
