Borderlands 3 has gotten all the attention and more with 5 million Vault Hunters having entered the game, and Gearbox was thrilled to see the turnout.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and it seems to be the case with Borderlands 3. The pinnacle looter shooter is back in business and the world is on board with it. Recently, Gearbox announced record-setting numbers for their latest game, along with a little pat on the back for the occasion.

Gearbox announced the numbers for Borderlands 3 on September 23, 2019 via the Gearbox Official Twitter and on their corner of the 2K website. Gearbox Founder and CEO Randy Pitchford shared absolute elation on behalf of the Borderlands team, thanking fans for their continued support.

“The response from the Borderlands 3 fans and community has been overwhelming,” said Pitchford. “The mission of Gearbox is to entertain the world and with the record-breaking success of Borderlands 3, we’re excited to take one more giant leap down that road. On behalf of the incredible development team and everyone who has had a hand in making this achievement possible, I extend our warmest thanks to our fans.”

Borderlands 3 certainly packs a lot into the genre. We ourselves have been impressed with its constant efforts to address annoyances of past games like loot thievery with the instancing system and a ping system that makes communication and direction in the game world far easier. Gearbox didn’t just make a new Borderlands game. They made a better one that didn’t gloss over annoyances, and that’s great. With the above points, interesting villains in the Calypso Twins, good characters with interesting individual abilities, and more, it’s pretty easy to see why people have flocked back to the series’ latest.

Will Borderlands 3 be able to keep the train rolling? It remains to be seen, but for now, they’ve earned themselves a solid milestone.
