It's a new era of Fortnite with a new map and everything. Chapter 2 and Season 11 are officially playable.

Over the past few days, as Season 10 of Fortnite came to an explosive close, it brought with it all kinds of questions about what would happen in the upcoming era of the popular Battle Royale game. Much of it was answered by leaks, but one question left was when Fortnite would actually come back on line. Well now it has. Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 11 has launched with a new map, skins, a fresh trailer and more.

The fresh new look of Fortnite launched on October 15, 2019 with a trailer posted in official Fortnite channels. With this trailer came a whole bunch of features which had been rumored, but not quite confirmed until now, including water combat via motor boats, jetskis, and other watercraft, support options to carry downed teammates to safety before healing them, and an all new island to replace the original Fortnite Battle Royale island map. You can check out the trailer in its entirety below.

Indeed, Season 10 was quite the close-out with the entire original island getting destroyed. We may have been spoiled to quite a few of the changes thanks to a lot of datamining leading up to Fortnite Chapter 2, but to see it all in action is still quite refreshing. Even then, there were some nice surprises we hadn’t seen just yet. Group emotes allow players to do things like high fives together, there’s a bandage bazooka for healing teammates at range, combat has been streamlined, progression is supposed to be less grindy, and more. It will remain to be seen how good the changes are (The mecha were after all one of the worst additions to the game among community opinion), but the entirely refreshed era of Fortnite is still a pleasant thing to see.

As we get entrenched and discover all the new secrets of the new battleground, stay tuned for more Fortnite news and content here at Twin Galaxies.
