We finally got a good look at what Overwatch 2 is, including new co-op missions, PVP modes, and new hero Sojourn.

When we got rumor that there may be an Overwatch 2 on the way last week, many wondered at whether it would be an all-new game or just a new era of the already released game. At BlizzCon 2019, we got our answer. Overwatch 2 has been announced, and it appears to be the latter. Overwatch 2 is a major overhaul and update over everything we know about Overwatch, including new PVP modes, a new co-op mode, and new heroes.

Overwatch 2 was announced during the keynote presentation of BlizzCon 2019. After a Story So Far trailer, we jumped right into the new era of the game. It would appear that a new crisis is underway with an army of robots known as the Null Sector waging war on humanity, and the heroes of the world must choose where they stand in the conflict. The Zero Hour trailer introduces us to this new fight while a gameplay trailer below showed us what exactly Overwatch 2 gameplay has in store for us.

New looks for the already released heroes are on the way as can be plainly seen, but new heroes are coming too. We got a look at two of them with Echo making an appearance in the story trailer and Sojourn in the gameplay trailer. Moreover, we’re getting an all new co-op PVE mode in which players will take on the Null Sector threat in maps across the world. As players play through these scenarios, they’ll be able to level up their favorite heroes and even upgrade them with new abilities.

Finally, the new PVP mode Push made an appearance. It would appear that in this mode, players will battle over control of a robot pushing an objective between opposing sides of the map. As long as a team controls the robot, it will push the objective toward their goal in the enemy team’s territory.

With so much on the way, it looks like there’s a lot to look forward to for Overwatch players whether they want to play online or off. Stay tuned for more information on Overwatch 2 and more announcements from BlizzCon 2019!
