Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan recently gave the community some hints towards how long they can expect the length of the story mode for Overwatch 2 to be.

The world was shocked when Blizzard Entertainment revealed that its popular esports title of Overwatch would be getting an official sequel in the future. One of the most significant changes that will be coming to the franchise in Overwatch 2 is the addition of a full-fledged story mode. However, some members of the community have been curious regarding how much content this portion of player versus environment content will be. Fortunately for these individuals, Jeff Kaplan recently revealed some information on the length of the Overwatch 2 story.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Jeff Kaplan explained that Overwatch 2 is not just an expansion or DLC to the contrary of what many players currently view the sequel to be.

"This isn’t just DLC or an expansion,” Kaplan said in the interview. “I play a lot of games. I can’t think of a single DLC or expansion of this magnitude.”

Kaplan went on to state how the story mode of Overwatch 2 will be "a complete story experience like you would expect from any triple-A blockbuster game.”

The only kind of PVE content that Overwatch has ever had has come in the form of limited-time events where players complete different types of missions. However, the community of the first-person shooter has grown to love the lore of the game's universe thanks to a plethora of animated shorts and comic books that have expanded the non-multiplayer side of the franchise.

Now, Overwatch 2 will have a chance to make the PVE element of the series shine in what will be a welcomed addition for many players.
