Now that we have our first look at the upcoming Half-Life: Alyx VR experience, some may not be wanting to shell out the cash for the Index equipment. Here's what other VR headsets are compatible.

After teasing a new Half-Life experience earlier this week, Valve has officially revealed our first full look at Half-Life: Alyx. Their latest game is for VR, but that doesn't mean it's a separate game. The studio promises this is a full-on adventure and the next logical step for this beloved franchise, which means many VR players if their current equipment will be enough.

Since the Valve Index has such a high price point, here are a few other virtual reality components that will be compatible when Half-Life: Alyx releases next year.

Which VR Headsets Are Compatible With Half-Life: Alyx?

For those not wanting to go all-in on a new setup, here's which VR setups will run Half-Life: Alyx:

  • Valve Index
  • HTC Vive
  • Oculus Rift
  • Oculus Quest with PC Link Cable
  • Windows Mixed Reality

According to Valve, "Playing as Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance for survival. The Combine’s control of the planet since the Black Mesa incident has only strengthened as they corral the remaining population in cities. Among them are some of Earth’s greatest scientists: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.

"As founders of a fledgling Resistance, you’ve continued your clandestine scientific activity—performing critical research, and building invaluable tools for the few humans brave enough to defy the Combine."

Half-Life: Alyx arrives exclusively on PC in March 2020. Are you excited for the next adventure? Like the more intense horror elements it seems to offer? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below!
