Beat Saber took the VR world by storm and it looks like Facebook is ready to cash in on that popularity.

Beat Saber was a game that released into the VR market when there were still a lot of doubts about whether or not a massive success could be seen in the world of Virtual Reality. This game combined a fun experience with fitness and proved to be a huge success and it was that exact success that drew the eye of Facebook. Now the social media giant - in an effort with Facebook Gaming - has announced they have acquired Beat Games Studios, the team behind Beat Saber, for some exciting surprises ahead.

Beat Games officially joins Oculus Studios as an independent studio out of Prague. Though Team Blue didn't go into too much detail about what the acquisition will entail, or what the terms were, they did touch on what this news means for Oculus Rift, Quest, HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Windows VR headset owners.

In a recent statement made by Facebook Director of AR/VR Content, Mike Verdu, he mentioned that the team will honor the promise of updates and content for all supported platforms. He added:

"We understand and appreciate the value that modding brings to Beat Saber when done so legally and within our policies. We’re going to do our best to preserve the value that mods bring to the Beat Saber player base. As a reminder, our most recent policy updates give more clarity to how developer mode is intended to be used, such as helping developers build their apps or for enthusiasts to explore new concepts. It is not intended for engaging in piracy or illicit modding, including mods that infringe on third-party IP rights or contain malicious code."

Verdu also mentioned that they have "only scratched the surface" as to what they plan on bringing to the Beat Saber fan-base in terms of modes, musics, and even social media features.

It will be interesting to see how Beat Games thrives under Facebook, especially now that the social media company is digging deeper into the gaming world in a more serious fashion following some pretty major hiccups along the way. With more and more streamers making the jump to the platform as well, this could mean a big turning point for the brand and how it fits into the games industry as a whole.
