Thursday, December 12th, saw a significant piece of news come out of the Overwatch League with the reveal that two of its most well-known players will be hanging up their mouse and keyboards and taking on a new role in the 2020 season.
Former Los Angeles Valiant player Scott “Custa” Kennedy and former Houston Outlaws player Jake “Jake” Lyon has officially retired from competing professionally. However, the two famous players will not be leaving the world of professional Overwatch altogether. Jake and Custa will instead be joining the Watchpoint Talent Team of the Overwatch League for 2020.
Their time on stage may have come to an end, but their story with OWL has only just begun!

"I knew I wanted to step away from competitive play, and since I had tried and enjoyed casting at the Overwatch World Cup in 2018 and 2019, I figured it would be a great area to put my experience in Overwatch to good use! I'm excited to tell the stories of pro players to the world as faithfully as I can," said Jake in an Overwatch League interview.
"I think it was the right time to make this decision. Ever since I've started playing video games and watching esports, I've always thought that being a part of the entertainment side would suit me well. I've been given the opportunity to do so for the Overwatch League, so it was too good to pass up. As much as I've loved being a player, it's time to move onto something new," Custa stated regarding his transition.
