Health and safety always comes first and it's because of that notion that the LPL has officially notified everyone of the week 2 delay.

The recent coronavirus outbreak that started out in China and has extended now to more than 14 different countries has been a massive cause of health and safety concerns and it's because of that concern that the LPL has officially announced that they are suspending the League of Legends Pro League's second week until further notice.

For those that may not be aware of the coronavirus outbreak, the death toll has risen to 81 at the time this article was written and has over 2,800 confirmed cases of the contracted contagion. The outbreak is believed to have originated in Wuhan, China, and while the investigation continues and health risks are evaluated, many gaming companies with events in the area are restrategizing how to go forward.

"We have decided to postpone week 2 of the LPL until we can ensure the safety and health of our players and fans," reads the most recent tweet from the LPL. "To our fans, we sincerely apologize that it has come to this and we will share any and all info as soon as we can. Stay Safe and thank you all for your support!"

At this time we don't know what the LPL is planning on doing for their course of action. It's plausible that they might resume week 2 when the safety all-clear comes up, or they might just call it a loss and proceed at the already established schedule's pace. Regardless of which direction they choose, the LPL promises that they'll have another update soon as to what the teams plan on doing for this year's competitive stretch.

While a delay is always seen as a bit of a bummer, we're glad to see the LPL taking the health of everyone involved seriously and our thoughts are with all of those currently affected by the current coronavirus outbreak.
